How it all began
Nene Johnson was born on the 16th of April, and hails from Abia state, Nigeria; she studied English Language at the Lagos State University (LASU).
She is a captivating singer, a multi-talented entertainer, and also an entrepreneur; she’s always had an uncontrollable craving for music from a very tender age as she’s been in different choirs from childhood – things became more serious and professional in her teenage years as she joined a girl group of 2 with the stage name, Xtacy – they released a song titled “E Go Beta” in 2010, as produced by Frenzy with it’s visual directed by Clarence A. Peters and it was also nominated for Best Use of Costumes in the 2010 Nigerian Music Video Awards – the group finally split amicably a few years back.
Following this split, Nene Johnson forged ahead to continue in the pursuit of her dreams, while also concentrating on her studies at the University – she did not relent as she rebranded as a solo act and carved a totally new identity for herself; she has proven to be a very passionate and determined individual, with originality in her unquestionable talent, a very distinctive voice, a strong personality and a unique style of her own.
So far, she has released singles like “Tonight,” “Konga,” “Ile Aye” and “Ligali,” which featured Nigerian rapper, Jhybo; her hit single, “African Boy,” was produced by Scope Nero and it’s visuals directed by Capital Dreams Pictures and Teflon.
